ipod use in 91 RS

I need to replace the factory AC delco in my 91 RS (actually was already replaced with a kenwood unit that some nice boys decided to break in and steal for drug money...)

I'd like to get something that can accomodate my ipod without too much hassle. Does anybody here have a setup or suggestions?

Thanks.

I don't know much about it, but here's what one guy did.

iPod in the Cobra - Ohh Yeah - Twin Cities Mustangs Forum

And I've been told a solid connection is always better then the FM transmitter.

You can get one of those cassette player hook up things that jack right into the ipod. Thats what i used to use for a while, and it was pretty good.

get the cassette player hookup thingys. I have a FM transmitter for my ipod. I get horrible reception with it. About every 5-10 minutes I am changing the station on both my radio and transmitter to get better reception.

Well you have a few options since your getting a new head unit. You can go with pioneer, but then you need to buy a ipod interface adapter which seem to be hard to find and go for like 50-100 from what I've seen. Then there is alpine which use a cable to attach an ipod and hae been advertising full speed use, but I've heard the pioneer ones are just as fast. Then if you go with another kenwood head unit, they also have a interface adapter which is like 100 dollars. I haven't heard too much about these so you should probably read some reviews and stuff.

(is anyone actually still rocking a cassette player?)

err I have no idea about the iPod so I guess im more asking a question then answering, but seriously cant you just hook it up like any device with an output? into an input? ;0
i know my headunit I need some adapter to use the cd changer input as an aux, however that has to be pretty common, and ive seen a number of units with a jack right on the face plate

Just buy a cd player with an Aux input on the front or back and just hardwire the ipod in.

Get a 4th gen delco and hook it up on the AUX port in the back where the cd changer usualy goes. They fit perfect in our cars and look like they beloung there.

I have the alpine with the output. I bought it like a whole year before my ipod, because I knew this guy with an off brand mp3 player who had a direct cable and it was so awesome, I knew I had to do that too!

Lately the stereo place suggested a new, all-in-one cable, that charges the ipod too! Right now I use a lighter plug charger, and that's just a lot of wires!

An ipod will plug into anything. Instead of buying their dumb stereo for my desk, I bought a set of really nice speakers designed to use with a computer, just plugs into the headphone jack and boom.

Don't wast your time with the Alpines. Go for a good Pioneer HU. The new Pioneer iPod boxes are like $50.00. Much better solution that some of the other options.
