You may find four in the defrost vent area by the windshield.

I just did this literally an hour ago.

You don't need to remove anything to gain access, no. You've got all those bolts below the front dash lip, and then you will probably have 4 or so longer ones in the defroster vent area, as mentioned above. He's right about being careful not to drop any in the vents...I just had it happen, and it really bothers me!

Where in MA are you?

If you do drop the screws in the defroster port, you can get one of those magnetic grabber things and pull it out. I bought a mechanical grabber and long magnet from NAPA for like $4 to retrieve a dropped screw bit and one of those screws in my defroster port.

Oh, yeah, that is a good idea. I'll have to try it out, I have one of those extendable magnet jobbies.

Dude, no way! Finally, a guy from Mass. on here who isn't from the eastern part of the state. That's just beyond Belchertown, isn't it? Got any pics of your ride? We should meet up sometime.

I did this about 2 yeas ago to a car I used to own. A few days ago the guy that bought called me up and said, "Hey, I went to replace the speakers and couldnt find any bolts in teh defrost. What happened?" I told him they were all in the vent. He said "S**t, that was the rattle i've been hearing for the last year." Yeah, sorry

Biggest problem it would cause would probably be an annoying rattle. But for uptight types like myself, it bothers us knowing we dropped something down there!

umm, you guys know you can cover the vent with a rag, or cardboard, ect..... then the screw cant fall down it.

thinking ahead about "dont drop the screw" is nice, but its smarter to do something to prevent it, other then just thinking about it.

I was very careful to ensure I didn't drop the screws down there - and I didn't. I dropped the socket from my wrench instead.
