remote starter work for carbed??
i don't think it will work but i am getting a car alarm and a whole damn defense system since i just got my car stolen, but i like the option of remote start but how would that work because you have to pump the gas when starting carbed engines anyone ever had one on there carbed L98 how did it work out if it even did work thanks.

I've only had it on EFI cars. but my buddy had a carb'd car with it and it would work occasionally from a cold start. maybe half the time. but it would always work if the car had recently been run and was already warmed up. what sucks is that's it's set to crack for just a second or 2. it would be nice if you could adjust that to hold a bit longer.

One of the places I worked at installed one on a Monte SS (carbed L69). He wired an actuator to the throttle and used the spare button on the remote to work the actuator. Push that button twice to pump the throttle, then start the car. It worked like a charm, plus you could rev the motor while the car was running from the remote.
However, in doing that, you need to be careful to make sure that you don't allow it to pull the throttle too much, because if you ever manage to have a malfunction and that actuator sticks, you want to make sure you can still overpower it with your brakes.

Talk to your local car audio shop. I have seen several done the way Jim85IROC described. Any place that does remote start installs should be able to provide you with the parts to git-r-done.
You probably can score the parts from D.E.I. they make Viper and other brands. I will post a link below

There is also an wire that hooks to the trans. that monitors RPM's so if you have a long cranktime set, when the remote unit see's the R's kick up, indicating that the car started, it will disengage the starter. I have had remote start on my last 3 vehicles, but they have all been fuel injected.
Alot of the newer remote start units are 2-way, so you will get confirmation on your remote telling you that your car indeed started. Although I can hear my car start from a block away lol.
