front 4X6 opinion wanted
a few months ago my STOCK 1986 6X9s started sounding like garbage (comparativly) and my deck started not playing CDs, so i yanked all the audio equipment out of the car. i recently traded some stuff to a friend for a pair of pioneer 6X9s and a low model panasonic deck. also included were a pair of kenwood KFC-4625C 4X6s for the front. i also still have my ORIGINAL factory 4X6s.
i used the deck plugged into my 12V converter to bench test all the speakers and they all sound ok. including my stock 4X6s. during testing i turned both speakers up prety loud, the kenwoods distorted first, but sounded a little more crisp up until they distorted. both sound amazing for what they are.
which brings me to my question... which would YOU use if forced to choose between the two, crappy used kenwood 4X6s or crappy used stock 4X6s.
incase anyone wants to know, my goal for this "system build" is to have somthing to sing along too, so i can stay awake on long drives. i am not looking for awsome sound, i knowwhat awsome sound sounds like, and i love it, but it is simply not a place i wish to spend money. this car would still not have any audio if it were not for my friend wanting my old steering wheel so bad.

If you really don't care about it that much base your decision on two things. First, which do you think sounds better? It doesn't really matter what any of us think because in the end it's your car. Second, if both speakers are fairly close in terms of sound then which do you think will take longer to fail? Pulling the dash pad off is annoying and might be easily avoidable.

good point.
i htink i am throwing the stockers back in there. they have lasted 20 years now, and should last a bit longer. i will keep the kenwoods on standby in case i am wrong.

anything but pioneers, everything in my car is RF besides the 4x6s, and the make so many strange noises. 4x6 3 ways, i'm thinking the wierd noises are coming from the tweets but i'm not sure, but to me all pioneers don't put out enough highs or lows. Just plain mids. My 6x9 RF 4ways have way more range than my pioneers. Kicker 4x6s sounds really good.
