No Sound
Ok I have an Alpine cda-7893 unit. I love it to death and would rather actualy get it fixed if it is broken then to get a new unit. The unit worked great for aslong as I owned it. But then I put it in my 89 rs vert and a few days later the sound starts cutting out when I would hit a good bump or take a hard turn. But now it's so bad where the sound gose out with the smallest bump like when the stock 155,000 mile tranny shifts! I checked the wires behind the head unit and everything is good. I didn't check the speakrs yet. But both go out and on at the same time. So I seriously dout it's the speakers. And that's why I am thinking it's the head unit. Dose anyone here have this happen before or any clue what it is befor I go take it to a shop. Thanks in advance! Adam :-)

I checked the wires behind the head unit. And from what I can tell it's all good. I have the wiring adapter. So the ground is what ever is factory. The speakers are running off of the unit. I'll check the wires again just incase. Thanks! Adam :-)

Both speakers wouldnt cut out at the same time if he went over a bump though. Chances of them both grounding at the same exact time even over a bump are very low but still may be possible.
ok first start with checking the wires off the head unit, then make shure they are all good befor they all go off into the dash, if all is good then check your wiring for your speakers, if they are all good then take another look at your deck. make sure the wiring harness for that is good and not all flopy and stuff. if all that checks out then its your deck.

I just called Alpine tech support. And they said to check the speaker gounds. They said the radio would go into protecting mode and shut off all sound to all speakers. So he said to undo all the speaker wires and add one speaker at a time till you find the one that shorts. If that dosn't work then he said to send it to him and he'll fix it for $95 bucks. But he said it sounds like the speaker gounds. So I'll try doing that and will let you guys know. Thanks again for the help! Adam :-)

OK. I tried another radio and at first nothing was working. So I unplugged it and put the alpine one back in and still nothing. So I took the dash pad off and found out I still had the stock speakers in there with there max 10 watts. I thought they where changed out when I was amazed how good the sounded when I hooked up the alpine. Anyways. I played with the plugs and still nothing. So I swap back to the other radio and still nothing. So I put everything back together just so I can have a clock at least. And it started working! I listened to it for like 10+ minutes. So I think whats happening is the alpine is throwing to much power at the stock speakers. The alpine puts out 27 watts RMS and 60 watts max when cranked. And well I pretty much listened to it cranked up. So I think the speakers were grounding them selfs out or something like that because they have to much power. I don't know. If this radio still works after awhile. Then I'll replace the speakers and put the Alpine back in. Thanks for the imput guys! Adam :-)

Well it did the same thing on the way to work today. It would turn on when ever the comercals were on. Go figure. But atleast the means it's not my beloved Alpine raido that went bad. I'm going to try and take the speakers out of the IROc. And see if that works. If not. Then I guess I need to rewire the car for my stereo. Which wouldn't be a bad Idea for the best sound. Adam :-)

I'm a retard. I remember that when I first got the car I took the rear speakers out that where riged in there when I cleaned the car. And I forgot all about it. So I unpluged the rear plug from the radio and it works. Been driving it around for 3 days with no problems what so ever. Just thought I would let you guys know. And thanks again for the help! Adam :-)
