amplifier problems need help fast!

alright so i got lucky and recieved an amplifier and two subs already in boxes for free. ( don't think yall need to know how i got them but ask if you wanna) ok so teh problem is that when i have the amplifier hooked up it'll power and produce sound with the subs only withe the radio..... when i switch the to the cd player the LED light goes out and the power is gone.

recap: pretty much the amp and subs don't work with the cd palyer but do with the radio.

what's the problem that i'm having.

Either that or nobody is helping him because we're assuming that he's trying to rig stolen equipment.

Are you using the ant remote wire for a remote turn on for the amp.

So you have it hooked up to your headunit. When the radio is on the amp turns on and the subs work? When you switch to the CD function of your ead unit the amp turns off and subs do not work? Is this correct? If so, I would say your headunit is the problem. And if you stole that stuff... You need to grow up.

i knew this kid that totaled his truck and the insurance company wrote him a check for his truck so before the insurance company came to get this truck i came and took the amp and subs so really i didn't steal them cus he knew i was taking them and didn't care but then in a way i did steal them from teh insurance company. my other mechanic friend swapped some crapy tires for the new ones as well.

so i hadn't been keeping up with this thread at all and just so you know i did find out it was the head unit that was messing it up i got a new one and it worked just have to put it in my car now.

I think when you total a car, I don't think the insurance company gets to keep the equipment. Unless they wrote a chekc just for the audio equipment. Then I think they only care that there is 'something' in it's place.

As for the deck,
If the amp was turning off when you turned the CD player on. Then you most likely had the amps remote hooked to the Stereos power ant. lead. I bet if you hooked it up to the amp turn on 'remote' lead on the head unit. It would work OK.
