Alpine Owners: Question for you!

I've got a set of older Type R's (the model without the rubber screw cover gaskets). I would like to retrofit a set of the rubber gaskets from the new model of type R's that include the rubber screw covers onto my model, however I'm not sure if the rubber part on the new type R's, S's, E's and X's for that matter comes off or not. SO, Alpine owners, can this ring come off or is it part of the sub? I'm talking about the rubber ring that the screws actually screw into, NOT the part that covers the screw holes.

Here's a picture, I know this isn't easy to follow. Thanks!
