Front speakers quit after amp. install
I just installed 6x9's with an amplifier and couldn't figure out why in the world they WOULDN'T work. Lost for ideas, I pushed the music note switch, next to the slider, to the 'on' position. Suddenly, I had sound. Did someone just decide to wire this in to the HU? It definitely wasn't done in the method that was summerized from the 2002 post. It looks like the blue wire is spliced into the red wire for the slider, and the signal wire that follows the RCA cable goes there too.
PROBLEM 1
Unfortunatly and oddly, my front speakers no longer work....they're wired up from dash harness to radio harness, but there is no sound. They worked great before. I'm thinking it has something to do with the wiring in of the button.
PROBLEM 2
If I want to disconnect the button/slider deal function (the slider doesn't work anyway). Would I just cut my blue (signal) from the HU and then splice it like normal to the RCA's small signal wire?

Is this an aftermarket deck, or a factory one?
What type of amp?

Thanks for the response!
The slider is next to a gain button on my dash (all stock). My assumption is that on the stock radio it used to be able to raise and lower the loudness.
The deck is a Pioneer from 2000 and the amplifier is a 4 channel.

Maybe pictures would help.
Re: Front speakers quit after amp. install
I guess I've never seen this slider thing before (or gain button for that matter), must have been one of those options with the fancier radio or something??
If so, are the factory speakers run off the deck or were they run off an factory external amp somewhere? Did you replace the deck at the same time as the amp?
If there is no external amps running those front speakers, and you have an after market deck. I don't see why you can't just bypass it all together?
But since I'm not familiar with this slider thing, maybe someone else can step in.

Re: Front speakers quit after amp. install
The button ans slider was for an optional radio that came stock on the car.
It wasn't supposed to work with the current Pioneer deck, but someone managed to wire it in. If there is/was an external amp, its wires have been cut to make the button functional with the Pioneer. I can rule the possability of the factory extrenal amp.
The HU just failed this morning, so I'm getting a new one. The mystery is still unknown and I'll post a picture of the button and slider that I am speaking of.
I'll definitely be getting one of those "install cards" so that when/if this one fails for no apparent reason, at least I can get a replacement.
