cant stand silence
First I would like to begin by saying that I apologise if I could have found this by searching, but I tried that and failed. This is what I have and I would like to try installing my self as I am strapped for cash and cant afford to get it done. My car has no stereo now and the silence is starting to bug me. I love listening to music, especially in the summer. Now how do I connect this (step by step woulb be helpful as i no nothing about wiring or car stereos) stereo? Im not concerened with amp. Just how to install stereo and what, if anything do I need? Not sure if it matters, but its an 87 TA.

Hack off the harness from the back of the radio and from the chassis harness of your car. Strip each wire (car and radio harness) with the common electricians tool. Butt connect each coresponding wire to the other using this guide:

Reinstall your radio.

If your radio is still there, or if the wiring is, theres an easier way. Go to a general audio parts place and get a kit for about $10. It spliced the radio wires into your car, so all you have to do is plug in the. black, white and blue connectors. You can also just splice it wire to wire, but i think this was is neater, and its easy if u ever wanna install your factory radio back.
The kit is helpful, tells you where evrything goes, and u just match colours. THe actual fitting the radio in is very easy too, just follow the instructions.

Yikes, ok well this is exactly why i wanted to get that kit, because i dont wanna deal with that later.
However, thats not helping so you can do two things. Either buy the kit, because again, its all colour co-orinated, however, its the wrong end of the connector so it may not be that helpful.
OR you can wait till i get home, i took a picture of all my wiring original, before i took it apart, and it'll give you an idea of what wire does what. Those pix are on my home computer, and im at work right now.
For sure, you will need to cut off the end of the stereo wires, that connector is of no use. Also, are all of your speakers in place??? You might wanna check if those have wires leading from them.

Re: cant stand silence
I believe all the speakers are in place and working. I have have some speakers (matching set and name brand to stereo), but Im not concerned with that right now. I just want to connect the stereo. My dad said they were never tampered with (was his car). His friend had did the stereo job. Im not sure what happend to the stereo. I think he sold it or something. Anyways. I got the car like this. I didnt want to mess with it, as I was pretty sure it wasnt suppose to look like that and wouldnt be as simple as just matching wires with my stereo. So when you get home (Im at work myself right now), it would be greatly appreciated if you could help. And if you can walk me through step by step as I know nothing about wiring or stereo's. Thanks.

Crap, ok i just realized mine was a little hacked up. Im not sure whether you should go off the colour of the wire near the connectors or at the other end of the butt connector. Clearly they dont match. Ill come up with a better answer for you once i find that peice of paper that tells you what wire does what.
I know that those connectors can only fit in ONE way, but im second guessing myself, because i think the speaker wires were more untouched than the radio. But the wires closer to the connectors also look untouched. In any case, see if these pix make any sense.
