Re: Need help with Vented Box

You can't just vent any box and expect better performance. 1 cubic foot per sub is barely adequate for those subs in a sealed environment. They would require a vented box that's WAY bigger than that box. Because of that, just putting a vent into that enclosure isn't going to improve anything, and would likely create an awful 1-note-wonder with any vent that's small enough to actually fit within the box.

Although those audiobahns are only going to do so much, in that box they should still go relatively low in the car. I would start troubleshooting by making sure that the polarity on both subs is correct. Start with 1 sub at a time (with the other disconnected) and reverse the polarity of one of the coils and see if you get more bass or less. Do this with both subs individually to verify that they're wired correctly, then reverse the polarity of an entire sub (with them both playing) and see if you get more or less bass. You should also verify that you have the 4 coils wired in a way that presents a safe (and adequate) load to the amplifier. Once that's all been verified as correct, we can move on.

Plus you can't just have a hole and call it a ported box. Ideally, it should be a cylinder, and the diameter as well as the length determine the acoustic response.
