Custom Kick Panels
Custom Kick Panels
I installed a set of Sony Xplods in the quarters today.... sounds better than stock but it's not doing it for me. I'd like to buy a set of kicks and install some 6.5 comps. I asked Jim85Iroc but he's not making them. Is anyone else making these panels or is there somewhere I can buy them? I found some made by Q-form or Q-logic on crutchfield but have read that they aren't the best. I don't need to rattle any windows but I would like a little more bass out of this system.

Re: Custom Kick Panels
IM Professional O The Q-logic peices suck unless you intend on using them soley as a pre-mold to glass around. I can make them for you from your panels with MDFand Glass. They will be ready to cover. You provide the panels and speakers. The Q-Forms are just not ever a matching texture or color and they are thin plastic which gets brittle over time. I did some on my TA years ago but since had build a lower door pod and sold the kick pods. Custom work is time consuming and expensive. But that is what I do.
Re: Custom Kick Panels
I agree, back when the Q-Forms first came out I bought some. They didn't fit quite right, and instead of how the factory kick wraps around edge where the door shuts.
The Q-forms stop on the inside, and then you put this plastic molding piece over it. Looked cheesy.
The plastic is thin, and the little speaker covers always popped off too. I dunno how many times walking back to the car, I would find the speaker cover sitting there in the parking lot.

Re: Custom Kick Panels
I had really good luck with the Q-Forms, but only after beefing them up. They did a great job matching my factory color in my 97 GTP, but the interior plastics were probably a lot less faded that a stock 3rd gens. as for reinforcement, i added about 2-3 layers of fiberglass to the back, along with about 1/2 a pound of non-hardening model clay to each. I know these are not as good quality as a custom set, but i could not even come close for the money i had paid for them. with a little work, these will work great for the average person.

Those are nice. They flow well with the door angle

check out the bose website.. they got some special kickpanel with bose built in speakers for our cars.. because my car came with bose kickpanel speakers.. nice right.. or maybe it was custom done.. but while installing my SFC i had to remove the carpet and i saw that the kickpanel had speakers and it said bose.

Re: Custom Kick Panels
the bose was an option for these cars, but they are not worth anywhere near the money they go for. they were ok for the time, but way behind what we've got readily available aftermarket today
