ive posted about this before but i have a few new things to post ,when i got this car the radio wires were all cut up after cleanig them up i wired a 199x radio in to it only to find out that it does not work , only a squeel comes out of the speakers .and the radio does not have any display (i pluged this radio in to another car and all of it worked) and since ive had this car the none of the dash lights work , not even the a/c,heater controls and when i was messin with the radio wires today some of the wires touched and then all the lights on the dash came on! can anyone tell me whats wrong ? and does anyone have a pic of the 1986 iroc fuse block all of my lables are worn off

 

An electrical issue like that can be difficult to track down. It sounds like a lot of these cars where a previous owner started hacking away at the wiring to add an aftermarket radio or alarm and didn't do things the right way.

Grab a test light or better yet a meter and start double checking that the wires are right using the diagrams above.

 

someone had also hacked my wiring before i got to it. the first thing i did before anything was installed or changed was to install a new harness. i grabbed one out of a junkyard and wired it back to factory, easy enough because the pigtail had all the correct colors. only from that point would i change things up. it can be very easy to switch the wrong wire if you're not 100% sure what it is

 

i now have it working ! i must have had a brain fart, i thought i checked all the fuses but i checked them again and 3 were burned out now the radio is working! thanks for the help.
