Missing Speaker wires??
Missing Speaker wires??
I'm finally getting around to putting a new headunit into my camaro as it hasn't had a radio since I bought it a year and half ago. Sometime before I bought it the old radio was ripped out but was just sitting in the radio pod.
So I started cleaning up the wires and connecting it to the harness for my headunit when I found out that for whatever reason, the wires for the rear speakers are missing. I can't see them at all inside the console or behind the heater control unit. So I'm kinda clueless as to where in the world they are. The connections for the rear speakers are still there and the colors still are the same. But for whatever reason I can't find them anywhere else. Anyone know where along the body they run so I can trace them and find out where they went to?

Re: Missing Speaker wires??
if i remamber when i did my rear speakers... i think i think that they run along either door just under the door sill and carpet. in the least case you can start there but you will have to pull off your trim pieces just to be sure. no matter what anyone tells you that would be the sure fire bet.

Ya, found that out just now. Well they are in tact up until they go into right near the ECM. After that I don't know where they go. Might be easier to redo the wiring for the rear speakers but would rather find out where these puppies go to first.

Re: Missing Speaker wires??
when you figure out where they run let us know cause i am thinking of replacing all my speaker wires with heavier gauge wiring for better sound.
Re: Missing Speaker wires??
Well I found both of them. I traced the wires up underneath the dash. So I stuck my arm as far back and up as possible inside the radio pod and then started slightly pulling the speaker wires where they went into the dash. By luck I found both of them and yanked them through. So for whatever reason they were pulled back.
Now I can connect everything up and hear music again!

hear is something for you to look for and if you ever get a chance to buy them then you should because these complement the sound quality very well they are the rare premium sound boxes with holes for 4*6 and 5.25 i absolutly love them in comparison to the 6*9 that i used to have
Re: Missing Speaker wires??
Everything is connected and works. It sounds pretty good too for what I paid for it all. I would have gotten a much better sound system if I had the money (amps, subs, etc) but given my limited mobility financially and the fact I didn't have a radio or speakers in it before I figured anything is better than what I had. Let me tell you it's a lot different listening to music in your car when you never did before :P
