Change rear Speakers?
Well I was thinking of changing my rear 6x9 to 6 1/2", What do you guys think? Will it sound better or should I just leave my 6x9?

Re: Change rear Speakers?
i don't know, i personally would go with another 6X9, but if you thought of maybe making a filler plate to do a 6 1/2 component set with an independant tweeter, that would sound sick for sound imaging.

Re: Change rear Speakers?
Ideally there would be no rear tweeter, as the rears should only provide the "fill" or "ambiance" that mimic the natural reverb and reflections that happen in a closed space. The problem is that the rear speaker location in a third gen is far too close to the listener to not ruin the staging, as the rears tend to be heard before the front speakers pulling the sound stage rearward. Moving the rear speakers more into the hatch area would provide even better results.
If you have a subwoofer or subwoofers, then changing the rear speakers to a round speaker will help with overall sound quality. Oval speaker tend to colour the sound, due to clone flex distortion, in that the cone will flex differently in one direction than another, due to the strength of the cone being different in different areas.
If you don't have subwoofer(s), then stick with the 6x9 as they will reproduce more low frequency than most 6.5" round speakers will.
