General Amplifier questions
I have 2 12" MTX subs that can handle 400 watts RMS each, how Many watts does the amp need to be; and does it need to be mono or 2 channel?

Re: General Amplifier questions
Ideally, you want more power (clean power) than the subs are rated for, so each sub is rated @ 400 watts, you want an amp with more than 800 watts....(2 channel, @ 4 ohms)
Depending on the power the amp is able to put out... a 500 watt mono amp (at 4 ohms) 1 speaker may be able to play 1000w at 2 ohms (2 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel) assuming each speaker is 4 ohm and 1 voice coil...
But there is no rule saying you have to do that... I had a friend with an Isuzu truck, 6 Pioneer 12's and a PPI amp that rms'd at 600 watts, so each speaker was getting about 100 watts... The box was built right, and the ports tuned right... it sounded amazing... had the cement parking garage floor oscilating in Daytona @ the spring break nationals... (the good old days

Re: General Amplifier questions
Get two Visonik V318XTs if your subs run on 4 ohms
Or two Kenwood KAC-8103D if your subs run on 2 ohms.
If you want to get a two channel amp, so you only need one amp, its probably gonna cost you a little more.
I'd go with those if you want cost effective power.

Re: General Amplifier questions
that would probably throw off your imaging, however if you do make sure the wires dont get caught in anything inside the door
