Stock speaker wire question

Won nice front and rear Delco speakers on ebay for under $20 shipped
Looked at the wires for the 6x9's and they need replaced. Theyre all chopped up and exposed

I was just wondering how the rear wires were routed to the front and if it would be easy to pull new wire through the same way

Thanks

Very simple it runs form the radio behind the pedals and then runs down the plastic door panel. Then up throught the sail panels in the rear. When i replaced mine i ran under the carpet. Didnt mess with all of the specific stuff. BUT YES VERY SIMPLE.

Thought it did.
I figured if it ran under the carpet I would have seen more wires under my console

nope its not as complicated, no pulling up carpet involved. Just under the door still plate and the other side same just not behind any pedals... lol... GOOD LUCK

Re: Stock speaker wire question

The stock wiring is terrible. If a simple clean-up of the wire ends doesn't do the trick, you should just run new wires and just leave the old ones alone... they are bundled in conduits. Nearly impossible to get to them. I was able to squeeze a 1AWG power cable into driver's side conduit though... I was pretty impressed...

I think you need special connectors to hook up stock delco woofers... Maybe Wal-Mart sells them. For anyone else thinking of doing the same as you, I would recommend going with aftermarket. Even for $20 you could get some speakers from walmart that are at least two-ways...

Good luck with that. You won't be able to pull anything through. They are bundled too tightly. You would need to run all new wires.

The wires run through a large conduit, and are then grouped in several stages with other looms, clamps, pins, ties, etc...

Re: Stock speaker wire question

The wire is long enough to where I can solder and heeat shrink it to make it longer but where can I find a delco style speaker connector?
Anyone have one off a junk harness?
Id maybe pay a few bucks plus shipping

This all seems ridiculous when a set of speakers that are at least ten times better can be had for $20 new...

I guess check a junkyard... what happened to the original delco connector? Just cut it off and solder it to the new wire...
