1988 Trans AM Speaker Problem

New to this site, I have had my 88 for about 8 years, last Sept. before I put her up for the winter my front right speaker stopped working and would crackel. I have switched the two front speakers removing the dash and the right works fine in the front left positon and the left stopped working in the right front. The rear speakers work fine. I have read about replacing the "master head" in other forums. Is my problem the master head, and is that referring to the cassette unit itself? My 88 is 100% original so no updates have been done to her. I am no expert on the electrical of a car, engine I am good to go so this is uncharted area. Could it be the wiring that connects it?
Thanks for any help

Re: 1988 Trans AM Speaker Problem

so what u r saying is that the speaker that is in the front right spot will crackle regardless of which speaker it is? if thats the case that 20 year old wiring is showing its age. Me not being a purist would say just snake some new wire from the speaker down to the radio because its cheap and easy.
