My first fiberglass Sub box build.
Its not extremely custom its far from it but i think it looks good, and besides its my first attempt at a sub box so i am sure its not perfect, Im looking for constructive criticism and tips for future attempts. I started with a MDF box that they sell for third gens at the local mom and pops shops it fits 2 12" subs. The only problem with the box is that it wont fit many of the higher end subs since the magnets are much bigger. So i decided to create a lift using several MDF rings to elevate the subs at a higher position giving them more clearance. Then i finished it off with a fiberglass cap to make it look smoother. The box will now fit JL Audio W7 but i doubt it will meet the the necessary air space for the W7 so i have decided to go with the W6 which i have not purchased yet. I am taking the sub box to the paint shop tomorrow so they can color match my cars paint Dupont viper red. I will post pictures of the finished product once its completed. But for now here a couple of pics of it prefinished for paint and ready for paint.

Re: My first fiberglass Sub box build.
Thanks. Sorry but i dindt have any plans i just build on top of a sub box that was already prebuild for third gens. I bought the box from a nearby car audio wholsaler for about $40.00 they are dime a dozen here in LA, i have seen the same box online for over $150.00. The only thing i did was add four 3/4" rings on top of the precut original sub cut outs. And used fleece to give my mold then i used fiberglass followed by bodfiller (bondo) to get a smooth finish. So all that is left to do is paint.

I forgot to ask, anyone thats done a custom fiberglass sub box and has t-tops how do guys go about relocating the t-top bag?

Yea i got my t-tops in my 95 bird that still go in the trunk.... the only options you can do is (like me) put a custom box in where the back seats were/are or put a tube in where the rear window is. You could also go with the option of mounting new shallow subs in the rear panels. Just msg me and i will get pics on.
