NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

My whole stereo system just got jacked. My BOSS stereo,1200w Sony X-plod amp, and the box with two 10'' subwoofers. It wasnt all that great of a system but it still totally sucks getting robbed.

thats what happens when you live in the ghetto . I guess this means new system

this is what they left behind.

looks like they were trying to take the wires as well. how ghetto is that.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

OMG dude. Looks like they just put 2 hands around it and ripped it as hard as they could.

Get this, when I first bought my Camaro, someone had been in it, but instead of taking anything valuable I had a $20 non-working iPod mini in my center console.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Sorry to hear about your loss! Anytime a thing like this happens, it not a good feeling no matter what! I live in a pretty good area and it happened to me once too! So it can happen anywhere! Now, I try to just make things as invisible as possible just so I don't advertise what I have in my car!

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Man I'm worried about that happening to me too.. I've got a new set up (2x 4" sp, 2x 6"x9" sp, 2x 800w 8" subs, and a 1000w amp.. All MA audio) sitting in the back of my Tahoe I'm about to install in my RS, and I'm really racking my brain on how to install the amp and subs where they'd be out of sight and hard to steal.. My Camaro has t-tops and I'm the kinda guy that doesn't put them on unless its raining.. which doesn't occur that often in So Cal =P Hopefully I won't be posting a similar thread as yours in the near future..

With my T Top car I have a micro wave alarm so thatthe tops can be off. If someone reaces in the car the alarm sounds. Not fool proof but it works.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I dont think they really knew I had the amp and the subs in the back because they are always covered, so I think the thief was just snooping around to see what he could find. And he hit the jackpot!

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I didn't have my car for a month and some one screwed up the passenger side seals trying to get the lock and tried the same on the drivers and the window broke. Now my Fiero had 16 speakers that were exsposed and a decent pioneer head unit and EQ and it was never messed with but when I get a jvc head unit and hide everything they try to break into my car for a head unit there were gonna hurt them selves trying to get out.

Here is what you need to make your head unit impossible to get out by the untrained idiot thief. You drill a 3/8 hole in the firewall and get a rubber gromet to fit, next you get a steel cable that you can cut to length and the proper ends to bolt it to the back of the radio. Bolt the cable to the back of the head unit and feed the cable through the gromet and then set the radio in its final resting place and then pull the cable tight in the engine compartment and bolt it to the body. After doing so your radio will not come out and they will destroy everything to get to it but it will not come out unless they know that little trick but 99% of all thieves will stop if it just can't be yanked out.

My headunit has that little trick and my amp rack and speaker box require alot of work just to get out. My amp rack and sub box are bolted to the body and you have to remove the back interior just to start then you have to deal with carpeting and impossible angles on screws so removal of the amps are not an option with the rack inside the car and the rack will take about 45-hour to take out. The sub box has the subs facing down so just stealing the subs is impossible without taking the box out but it takes two people to take the box out because the rear interior piece needs to come out with it at the same time and only in a certain way but either way the box is bolted down with 4 different sized bolts metric/standard/star same for the amp rack.
Any degree of complication will keep thieves from stealing something but the number 1 thing will be to keep your hatch from being opened from the inside and limiting the thief to just the interior so if you have a power hatch just splice in a mini switch and a relay to control power to the motor and just hide the switch. A good place to hide the switch for those who don't use the stock cig lighter, this is easy to do all you need to do is disconnect the power and drill a hole through the back for your switch and mount and then cut or hallow the lighter and put it in place and viola you have a hidden switch no one will find. Now here I am giving you guys all my secrets and tommorow I will have nothing in my car lol.

As I just learned a few years ago, If someone wants something bad enough, they can get it. Alot of things that come up missing where I live are from Meth Addicts trying to get something quick to sell for a quick fix. They don't care what they damage. Instead of putting a hide a switch in your car, Wire a Bosch 30/40 amp relay into your neutral safety switch. With it wired properly, you can't open the trunk unless the igntion switch is on and in park or neutral. Makes for a cleaner install too.

Here's what you do to hide the Tahoe's system, and lose no interior space!

Hidden Subs

That's terrible, sorry to read your bad news. Next time hook up a switching
supply with 50,000 volts connected to a break-away wire on the head unit.

It will give the theives a shock they'll never forget.

haahaa I will have to try that. I'll set a hidden camera somewhere and watch them get shocked.

what was pretty crazy is that I live right next to a church so I parked it in the parking lot and that is where it all happened. What kind of world are we living in that people are stealing stuff in the chuch. How disrespectful.

Thieves are not believers, so why would a Church parking lot be any different to them?

From where they ripped out the stereo. If you are getting power to the accessories, check for power by at the neutral safety switch on the shifter. Make sure it is plugged in.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

So far I have gone 5 yrs in the middle of detroit without getting my system jacked and I dont even have tint. Some little tricks I have picked up. Remember the low wake zone rule, if you are nearing your destination, dont crank your stereo. Next grab a dirty towel you may have used to lay down on while working on your car and throw it over your system. People will jsut assume that junk is under there. Its always smart to always take your faceplate with you, dont hide it, thiefs know all the typical spots. If it isnt there then they cant determine if it is worth money like my pioneer premier, or if it is a cheap thing from meijer. Using these methods I have gone 3+ yrs with an uncovered stereo with nice components in the middle of detroit. (basically all I am saying is to be smart)

the part itself is like 80 now from dei (viper, python, hornet and the such) but you are at the mercy of the guy putting it in for installation charges because if i remember there is a lot of donts on mounting it. like dont mount on metal, it has a this side up logo, and no moving parts within 6 in. i have one mounted underneath my dash pad and it works wonders

I have an Autopage Alarm. If they bump the car or open the door or reach in, the Alarm goes off and the remote unit also starts beeping. So you'll be warned if your car is within 100 yards or so.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

ringo said it as well as it can be. a 2 way paging alarm system is worth it if you invest >1000 into your system.

ive had 4 fully built systems jacked out of various cars. and ive learned many hard lessons on it. even leaving your car unlocked will still get your windows broken.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I had problems with angry neighbours (and old neighbourhood) and my alarms going off every once in a while with my old non-thirdgen (I don't know what was setting it off). I hooked the alarm up to the hatch lever and was alarmed 2 times in one month and never again (and no more false alarms).

The thieves never got my deck (it was tethered through the firewall) and the subs/amp you had to get into the trunk for.

Re: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

hey buddy, sorry about your stereo.
mine just got stolen today too.
some dumb **** pried up the weather stripping to the t-tops to un lock the doors from the inside.

the car was parked right infront of my house all locked and everything.

all im missing is a sony xplod head unit.
the speakers are still there and i dont have any amps or subs, but im still pissed nonetheless.

well i guess its time for an alarm system and a new radio.

anyone got suggestions for an alarm?

i'd like something where if you unlock the doors from the inside after pressing the lock on the keypad, the alarm goes off.
also a vibration sensor would be nice.

the hatch trick is neat too.
i might have to try that.
what color is the neutral safety switch?

a couple of sad but true facts
1. usually it someone who you either know or they(your "friend") knows or someone who has time to watch your commings and goings.
2. 50k volt will be quite a site however people have a tendancy to release thier bowels with that kinda shock (read up on stun guns). fun to watch not to clean lol
3get a pager alarm, hide everything, turn subs off entering your neighborhood, tell people the bass they hear is 6x9's or tell them everything u have is crap. worked well for me for the past 7 years.
