Just curious of the story behind these speakers. I've only dipped my hand into a handful of fbodies...and all of them had speakers resembling the left one. Went to a junk yard and found a set (pictured right) which caught my eye visibly by the fact that it doesn't have a visible paper cone ("tweeter" i assume?), while upon removal you notice that it's somewhat rust protected in some fashion (paint of some kind). The car was a base model v6 firebird, i believe an 86. Although it was nicely loaded...and came with the 5 band equalizer/tape deck. Obviously it's a performance sound option...just curious if anyone knew the specs on them...like new cars say "200 watt sound system" kinda stuff...just wondering if these were any severe upgrade to the stock speakers (i know it was the 80s). Also curious what AMR meant.

 

nothing serious about those speakers, it was and upgrade in the car, their still generic delco's but they have more power handling i beleive, and no radio is really 200 watts, 15-20rms/per ch is normal in new decks and back then maybe 5-10rms is what youd expect. your car might of been closer to the 15 mark with that upgrade.as for the cone its a just a dust cap design means nothing, and the AMR would of been the name of a company they bought the rights to so they could display the name and their for have a "better" system than others, they might of had a hand in building that speaker but probably not. somebody correct me if i'm wrong but i pretty sure thats how she rolls.
