Shorted Alt bad wiring?? or bad alt??
I got a new alt a few months ago and it started to give me only 9-10 volts which is not good. So I took it back and got it replaced with a new one and the installer said it shorted out. Something in my electrical is hooked up wrong possibly. Which is very odd because I took my amp and subs out because I am in the middle of getting a new box in there and nothing is hooked up. The wires from my install are all hooked up but nothing is using the power, I just taped the wires so they wouldn't touch. Safety first
Me and my buddy installed it last summer and never had a problem with it just needed a stronger alt and battery because my lights dimmed and ended up dying on the road because of my system. He has installed his system same way as mine and his car hasn't had any problems so I would figure that mine would be fine also...
Just wondering if anyone ever had this problem and could guide me to what I should be looking for. (bad ground? I got no clue don't a electrician)

i had the same problem with my car and it turned out to be a butt connector on the power wire going from the battery to the altenator.it should not have this anywhere on that wire, mine was hidden under wire loom so i never noticed it. make sure all of your grounds are good from the battery to the motor and car as well as the 12v+ going from the battery to the car. if all else fails take it to a place like flush electric and they'll find quick and cheap.hope that helps

Thxs I will go check that when I wake up

Gonna try and install everything this weekend and see what goes on.
My old man was trying to get me to go to a pro installer shop and get them to check it out I will do that if all else fails.
