RMS & Ohms- Will This Setup Work?
My brother has given me his old setup (amp & sub) and I'm a bit confused on whether it was well designed.
First off, my current setup:
head: Pioneer 45w max/22w RMS
dash: Pioneer 25w RMS, 4 ohm
sail: Pioneer 40w RMS, 4 ohm
New stuff:
amp: Sony XM-554ZR- 4 ch, 55wx4 @ 4ohms, 65wx4 @ 2ohms, 130wx2 bridged @ 4 ohms, 260w RMS/600w Max, 150x4 peak, Min Ohm Unbridged 2, Min Bridged 4
sub woofer: Pyle (yeah, I know...) PL1290BL, DVC, 1200w max/600w RMS, 4 Ohm per coil
Questions:
1) can I leave the dash speakers un-amped? (they get sufficient power from the head unit)
2) I like the amp, but will the sub work properly with it? (do the ohms and RMS's add up the way they should)
3) I want to leave the dash speakers alone, use 2 amp channels for the sail speakers and bridge the other 2 for the sub. How should I wire the VCs from the sub?
Thank You,
Eric

yes you can leave the dash and 6x9 un amped and be fine that amp should do alright with that sub you can prob wire the sub down to 2 ohm's maybe even 1 ohm if the amp is stable their and it will help get more power

You can wire a 4 ohm DVC sub in a 8 ohm or 2 ohm load (The12Volt), but the Sony will not support it. You can, however, wire each sub coil independently so that it gets 55W @ 4 ohms (each coil using one channel) or 130W @ 4 ohms (amp in bridged mode, each coil using two channels).
