Convertible Speaker Sizes

Just posting as FYI to convertible owners. Convertibles come with 4x6 dash speakers and 5x7 rear panel speakers. I seen the rear 6x9 grills, ordered 6x9s, and couldnt install them because the magnets are too deep for the shallow area behind the panels.

Really? I'm glad you told me this. I was about to switch out the ones from my T-Top Camaro to my vert... Hmm this changes everything....

Re: Convertible Speaker Sizes

yeah, it's kinda teh suxors. i put a full delco-bose system in my vert, and had to use the smaller Caddy Caterra speakers for it instead of the Caddy 6x9's I had intended to use. If you ever hear the Bose system in a Caprice, Lumina, or Caddy with those 6x9's it sounds like a sub in the trunk. It could just be the massive open space that is the trunk, but nevertheless, I had a set and was so looking forward to putting them in.

I have read that you can cut the frame back there for the top a wee bit to get them to fit behind the poanels, but I didn't want to, I didn't want to cut too much out and make it too weak.
