Small Radio POD

Has any one noticed how terribly small our radio pods are. I Just bought a new A/M headunit that has alot wires on the harness and it just does not pit in the POD. I was wondering if any one has experienced a similar problem and had a solution.

Thanks,

Dan

Re: Small Radio POD

you just have to make room and shorten the wires as much as possible...

Re: Small Radio POD

it can be done. I have all the wires for my head unit back there, including two thick wire harnesses, RCA cables, antenna cable, etc...

I don't know for certain, but with Camaros it may vary by year. I have personally owned 2 86' models, and have never had a problem shoving everything back there. On the other hand, i've worked on 2 91-92 models, and I believe I had a hell of a time putting a radio in. Its been a while, but I recall having to make a small cut in the carpet behind the radio for some reason, just to get the radio in. (can't remember if i had to move something or what)

Re: Small Radio POD

Camaros have more room in there than Birds do, because their consoles are one piece and we have the lower portion of the pod and the front of the console to deal with. In order to ATTEMPT to flush mount my headunit in my radio pod, I had to notch out the rear support where that one little nut is that holds the pod in place on the floor. I have to re-cut it, because now I don't have ANY room under there, with the big cable running to my iPod interface unit, and my h/u is no longer flush mounted.
