12 Volt Constant

Installing a kenwood KDC 8011 in my 85 camaro. I have a good ground, good fuses and the 12 volt ignition is good. Problem I am running into is the 12 volt constant. There is no juice to it. I can run a new wire from the battery but can't find an easy way to get it into the car from the engine compartment when running right from the battery. Any suggestions? How tough is it to get the new wire in through the firewall? Any tips to make this easy?

Re: 12 Volt Constant

Is there not a constant power source in the OE stereo harness? Should be, as well as switched power. Otherwise for getto, get it done wiring, if you have to have constant battery, you might first test for non-switched battery at one of the fuse block's spare receptacl slots and add an in line fuse off of it.

The only thing I'd suggest wiring directly to the battery is a fused amp cable or properly gauged wiring for an added accessory fuse block. How you get wiring into the cockpit is up to you but, as a suggestion, you might add a port through the firewall near the speedo cable.

Good luck
