Help with rear speaker installation
I dont care for hooking up amps and bass systems I just want something better than stock speakers. I own an 88 Iroc-z and apon looking up the size specification it looks as though the rear back side speakers are 6x9 but are only a 2 inch depth. Apon looking at any aftermarket speaker there is no 2" depth allowance all of them have 2.5-3.75" depths. Has anyone encountered this issue or have any advice as far as what to do regarding this?

Re: Help with rear speaker installation
the crutchfield info must be wrong-factory 6x9s are
2 1/2"behind the frame flange,and i have some
"old skool"mid-'80s rockford fosgate 6x9s in my car
that are about 3 1/2"behind and they fit with about
1/2"clearance. many thirds though have an enclosure
made(as i remember)of soft fiberglass behind the 6x9s
(my '82 didn't have these),that might limit avalible
depth some, could remove or modify these. Biggest
clearance problem i had with aftermarket 6x9s
is the outer plastic ring that surronds the front of
the speakers can only be about 3/8" thick or the
factory cover will not fit-had to trim some down to
fit, tweeters can stick out about 1/2" above.
