12-pin harness help.

Sorry for the blurred pic. I have an older delco to go in my 92 Camaro. The radio going in has the 12 pin harness so I gotta cut out my 21 pin harness which is no big deal. I got a harness from an 88-89 Z24 and at least the color codes match GM's wiring for the speakers. The wires to the left are for the speakers and the others shown are YELLOW= constant on(for clock), BLACK= ground and GREY= radio illumination. Evidently, the ORANGE and BROWN wires that are connected to a 2 pin pigtail connector on back of the radio will be supplying the 12V ignition and dimmer control. Am I right so far? Can I just cut the 2 wires from the pigtail connector and just splice something of my own like a couple of bullet connectors? Advice please.

Ken

Re: 12-pin harness help.

Life would be easier with a harness. I know they have ones from old to new, should be able to find one from new to old. Probably a sponsor on here??? Otherwise, yeah, slice and splice works as long as you know where it goes.
