1990 Camaro front speaker question.
1990 Camaro front speaker question.
I was wondering if it was possible or if anyone switched their speakers to go on the side doors of their camaro, and if they switched it to be 5'' 1/4 - 6'' 3/4. I wanted to make this my first project after the dash on my camaro when I get it, and was wondering if anyone has done it (there has to be some people that have done it).
If anyone has pictures, PLEASE post them up! Thanks.

You mean switching from the dash speakers to door speakers? On my 82 TA i was going to do that, til i realized the window handle would hit the speaker/grill. Any other place on the door prolly wouldnt be a place i would put the speaker. Maybe a car with power windows, but then the motor may be in that spot so it may not fit.

Re: 1990 Camaro front speaker question.
My car originally had this mod hacked into it. The speakers (auto windows) fit just fine in the bottom corner toward the front of the car.
I can't speak for how to do it though, because they didn't do it right. I just know they fit. One problem, if i remember correctly, is that the door metal in that area is not very good for attaching a speaker. You'd have to mod up a bracket that'd hold it in.
I switched to manual windows and am generally trying to get the rats nest of bad wires taken care of on my car, so I can no longer try it.

the only time its been "successfully" done is when people actually make door pods. I have some mounted in the bottom front of the door panels. I plan to make a door pod when I have some free time and $. But do a search on Firebird door pods and you should get alot of hits...
