new 6x9 speakers using same connection?

My stock 6x9 speakers are starting to sound really bad. I dont want to spend alot of money on my stereo system right now, so I wanted to buy some speakers and just install them myself using the same wire and connections. Has anyone done this? will it work? Like I said I dont want to install an amp or anything at this time, i just want a nice clean sound.

yeah it should work. im planning on doing the same thing. when you buy the new speakers make sure that they are right for the power. you dont want to get speakers that are meant to handle more power than you can give. i dont think you will have to worry about the power being too big for the speakers.

You can definitely use a different set of 6x9's in there without adding an amp. However, you will need to get adapters or cut the factory connectors to fit the aftermarket speakers. Don't fear; its any easy "mod" to make if necessary if you've crimped connectors before.
