Help with upgrading Bose Gold system

Hi, my car has a bose gold system with speakers in kick panels and rear trunk hatch cover. I have Bose in my maxima so familiar with the unique wiring and amps at each speaker.

I am redoing my interior and have a question about the sail panels. I do not know if I should order sail panels with or without speaker cut outs for 6x9's. I'm not tackling audio in my car until later on so not sure what I'll do. Is there someway I can keep the stock head unit but add 6x9's on a seperate amp? I want to keep stock look much as possible. Not sure if I can keep stock bose while adding a few speakers too. Thanks!

yes, you can get a seperate amp for the new 6x9's...just get a bridged amp, 2ch or 4ch depending on how many you want..obviously 2ch = 2 speakers 4ch = 4 speakers
i would reccomend a 500watt 4ch amp...

Thanks for the response. Will just have to buy piggyback wiring harness. Now I can order my headliner and get the interior back together!

Yeah I've been thinking about it some more and you may be right. Stock bose head unit has specific wire harness connectors. I think I would have to get aftermarket head unit to add speakers. I know you can get adapter to make aftermarket head unit work with stock bose speakers. Line level equilizer I believe.

I've been reading up on 6x9's and some people don't like them as it pulls the sound behind you. Might be a problem with 3ways and not 2ways. I think I will order sail panels with holes for 6x9's. The cutout has some plastic braces across the hole so looks sturdy enough. That way I always have option of adding 6x9's in the future. I have to find out from classic industries if sail panels attach with velcro. Heard these don't hold up too good.

Ive been haning out a lot on some audio forums lately...Im am no expert but from what Ive been researching and from what Ive asked, most people conclude that the majority of your sound should come from the front. You can have some speakers in the back but preferably playin real low. so that they blend in with the sound coming from ur front. The idea is to add "depth"to ur soundstage giving u the ilussion of a larger space.I learned this after I bought some 6x9's but If I wouldve known before hand I wouldve spent that money on some components.

If u wanna add extra speakers I would reccomend u get urself some q form kick panels.(look em up on ebay)Those will point the speakers more towards u than to ur feet.

Now Im by no means hating on bose..I visit their stores and I drool all over the place..no joke...their home systems sound reaaaally nice...but 2 of my friends have bose in their cars and It honestly dissapointed me...I mean is not horrible but after listening to their home theathers u expect a lil bit more...so I think if u upgraded ur head unit u'd be pretty happy...=]
