Among other things....it can display directions,(downloaded to a memory card or cd)right on that little screen
It has DSP (club,church,hall,etc)
High and Low pass filters
Parametric equalizer
Customizable backgrounds and screensaver
Variable illumination
8v pre out (yes,8v)
SRS circle surround
Time aligment (makes the sound from all speakers arrive to ur ears at the same time)
etc,etc,etc

and of course...mine comes with a bird as a bg...but if u drive a camaro we can change it...maybe a chevy logo...
your choice..

sorry for turning this into an ad lol.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

i went with a clarion head unit, and metra install kit for a flush look... im looking into getting a humount.

the reason i chose this stereo is because it looks plain jane( the flat black black blends in with the console well), and the illumination resembles what you would fin in a stock stereo

hmm at first i wanted an aftermarket one. but now the one from the 2002 silverado catches my eye. i have the same thing in my 97 lumina, although its a cassette instead of a cd player. i think i'm gonna get one of those from the junkyard.

are they plug n play?

Re: post pictures of your head units!

On the later 3rd gens, 89 & after IIRC they are plug & play. Prior to that, the car's harness is different, you may want to snag that as well. Mine was hacked by the previous owner, so I had to do the same.

Did you get your kit? Hows the fit, anything you had to modify? Pictures to share?

Looking to get one for my 89 TTA but just like to be sure it fits without any issues.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

I have a Sony Xplod with HD tuner, with pioneer speakers all around and a 600 watt amp in the spare tire compartment with all the wire hidden. EVERYTHING appears totally stock except the head unit which I picked to appear stock. Its worked so far because everyone whose been in my car has not even noticed I changed anything which was what I am going for. I may get a sub an hide it in the tire well too, and change my amp to be under the lock box on the drivers side. That would be cool as hell I think just to give me a more base. with just the speakers right now it still shakes the mirrors. Thats not going to happen anytime soon though, I have other stuff I want done first.

Pioneer Premier 880PRS, this thing does so much I don't know where to begin...dual 16 band eq, digital time alignment, auto eq..doesn't get much better than this

Re: post pictures of your head units!

Stock UM7 Radio, 1 of 1084 for the 1990 model year, most were UM6's with cassete players but not mine Still works great and none of the bulbs are out, to listen to my music I have my Zune 30 plugged into an FM Transmitter that sit right next to the radio, and it works pretty good, the Zune fits perfectly into the ash tray and gives a good clear sound. Have the radio plugged into Pioneer speakers, and I know I could get more out of them with a new head unit, but I love that classic look, unmolested

Kenwood KCD-MP642U, with sirius sat radio. The satellite antenna is sitting in the defrost vent, it hides well there.

Yup. they're charging me $120 for one that reads "IROC-Z" with the Chevy bowtie. Rip off. I think I may just get a old dashboard and make one with my dremel tool.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

Hello,

Would anyone be interested in a Trans Am GTA HUmount? It has never been installed. I purchased the JVC AVX77 and the faceplate is too large for the plate, so I am going to have to get another one made. The picture is attached, so let me know. I am just gauging interest.

Thanks!

Re: post pictures of your head units!

Here's a pic of the one I have in my Grand Prix. It's the red mini lamp bulbs, it matches the stock red color of the newer Pontiac's perfectly. The gta had more of an orange color to the gauges so I switched the dash to red leds in the gta so I got the red led for that one. I haven't installed that one yet though.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

got my HUmount, i only have 1 screw hole left behind the cover due to a theft/breakage. i'm sure it would sit higher if i had the screws in, it's red lit, black off. i had to trim the center console brace that's metal and goes side to side behind the radio, and trim the air outlets that are behind the radio, now they don't function (the vents on the sides of the console).

i love it though and i'll "hack" my car all day long for something cool

Re: post pictures of your head units!

I have a pioneer GM/CHRYSLER direct fit deck. As you can see fits better then any standard after market deck offered. It comes with factory style brackets that are a direct bolt in. The fit is nice and flush like rather then the crappy install kits that stick out too much.

They did. I checked since mine was stolen last week. There are a couple of used ones listed on fleabay if you're interested. I'm going to use this as an excuse to do a double-din conversion though, and put in a Pioneer Z110BT nav unit instead.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

I was checking into it and frankly the Pioneer unit in question doesn't have the features I want. Mainly USB/iPod compatibility.

Re: post pictures of your head units!

Yeah, those features were unheard of when that headunit came out 9 years ago. It also doesn't support mp3, wma, aac, etc., either. I was planning on replacing mine anyway, but had hoped to wait until early next year. The thief probably did me a favor, but the timing sucks.
