Interesting problem with GTA stock radio, any thoughts?
I have a 1988 GTA with the steering wheel radio controls. I just finished putting a new engine in the car and did a carb swap so I used a TBI harness for under the hood. Before I did this, my radio worked fine, as did the steering wheel controls.
But now, they don't. I can turn the key to ACC and it works great, can turn it to RUN and it works fine, but if I actually have the engine running, after a few min, the display on the radio looks gets all screwed up and the radio stops responding to the steering wheel controls AND the buttons on the radio itself. If I turn off the engine, then turn it right back on, the radio is fine for a few more min, then does it again.
I don't see how what I did under the hood could affect the radio. EVerything else inside the car works great, so I'm kind of lost. The car did sit for a couple months while I did the engine swap.
Anyone else ever have this issue or have any input for where I could start looking for the problem?

sounds like some broken solder joints in the radio, but
could also be problems with power/ground connections
to the radio. Goofy display usually indicates solder joint
problem-quite fixable

Thanks for the reply and advice. It isn't just the display though, once the display goes, so does the responsiveness to the controls.
Maybe something did happen with the connections though. Guess I'll have to pull it apart. It worked fine until now, and if I just put in a regular radio, it doesn't do it.
