Hello,

Im finally going to transfer to an aftermarket sound system in my 1992 firebird. I have been having a hard time finding a great head unit that matches my amber backlights i will not but a blue backlight i just dont too much care for it. If someone has any suggestions please let me know. Btw i think i will go with a singled din head unit. But for some reason i really like the amber background that came with the car and i do not want to ruin the flow. I know im stoopid

i think the old cheap dual stereos are amber lit

 

Ohhhh you are by no means stupid
Many other members here (including me) are BIG on color matching
Mr Al Hasse comes to mind,Im pretty sure there are more though

Thats my alpine 9833.... theres a few alpine units where u rotate the volume **** and the butttons will change to about 275 different colors.

Many others alpine models will change illumination from amber to green,I'll help you find one if you like

Many newer blaupunkts will do something similar circulating through a whole color palette.(amber is in there somewhere)

Some clarion's will also change color (to amber too)

Theres some kenwoods that will change color as well (yes, amber included)

If you give me a few minutes I will give you the exact models.

 

Thank you very much ive been pulling my hair out cause i want one that matches im very OCD when it comes to that. thnks for the Pic btw. im also gonna put a nice mount on it im thinking about a matching humount for it... but im still thinking.

BTW thats a nice lookin headunit you got there. also if i could get those model numbers i will much appreciate it.

I use to own a JDM sony that had the best looks of any radio ever WX7700MDX...hard to get a hold of though...

Also The infamous panasonic bottlehead if you wanna shell out a couple bucks......


Newer model eclipse's also switch to amber

I'd personally go with Eclipse or ALpine if you are into SQ...

 

Ok yea i was lookin at some reviews and i found some better one for Alpine then what i saw for Kenwood

And yes im very much into SQ.

Well i really want to get an eclipse but they are hard to find on the websites either there sold out and crutch feild said that the cd1200 and the cd3200 are discontinued which is getting very annoying ugg. The things i do for cordination. Also the alpines that have been listed above are either really hard to find or there discontinued or there out of my price range which is $150-200. if anyone knows a website where i can get a cd1200 or a cd3200 for a good price let me kno thx.

I think ive done it ive found a good amber headunit and its a Kenwood and it is not Discontinued!!!. its a kenwood KDC-X693. time to do more research

 

JVC KD-AHD59 is what I have and it has a perfect amber.
