memory
Hi, I have a 90 camaro. I installed a JVC kd-a605 head unit a few months ago. Everything works but everytime I turn the key to off the unit doesnt keep memory (e.g. cd starts back at track 1, no preset radio stations, doesnt keep time. The car still has the the three factory radio plug-ins. I've tried and tried to figure it out but cant. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: memory
Someone is going to have to check your wiring. I'm guessing that the 12V constant is not connected properly.

yeah it sounds like as soon as you turn the car off the radio has no power at all. You might want to pull your head unit back out and check the wiring. Try hooking up the red and yellow wires together on the harness to eliminate it turning off with the key then it'll have power all the time and you have to turn it off manually that's how i had mine and it will not kill the battery unless you forget to turn it off.

red a yellow wires are hooked together and it turns off with ignition. But when I put the 12v constant to the bundle of red and yellow wires it keeps memory but gets real hot and my gauge lights come on. Any idea what that is.
Re: memory
You've got it wired wrong. Big surprise right?
Go back and read the installation instructions for your headunit. Look up the wire colors/functions for your car. Wire the radio harness to the car accordingly and it'll work.

sounds like you wired it wrong it should be easy to figure out it may be getting hot if the ground isn't wired properly i had that problem with my amp's ground wire. Thread
