School Me One Speakers
I bought my 92 RS last year, and it wasn't long before I put a shiny new CD deck in it. I put a Pioneer 50w x 4 MOSFET deck with the iPod hook up. I'm pretty sure it's this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+-+50W+x+4+MOSFET+Apple+iPod-Ready+In-Dash+CD+Deck+with+MP3+Playback/9197184.p?id=1218056225709&skuId=9197184
I get decent sound with the stock speakers, however I would like something new that sounds pretty close to excellent. I'm no rich kid in any means, so I do have a limited budget. I mostly listen to country, rock, and classic rock. So I want speakers with decent bass, but I don't need to be bounced out of my seat. I don't want a sub, just some new speakers. Looking for some suggestions, as I don't know what all the different types of speakers are and the benefit of each one. Thank you, Ryan.

depends on what kinda music u listen to...if you listen to hip hop and rap--get a 10..if u listen to rockish stuff...get a 12...make sure you get a solid amp..DD are always good.. and get an amp for your speakers...id say get rid of the 4x6's and get tweeters instead..then get some beasty 6x9's and your set
id recommend Polk, Pioneer(preference), Fosgate. anything but sony... just my 2cents

I would get a sub, however if I had a sub I could not carry my fire gear in my car. So I'm looking for speaker options. I like Pioneer, my pioneer head unit has been awesome. What I need to know is the pros and cons on the different speaker sizes rectangular vs. round, the different material such as poly and kevlar. What 2-way, 3-way, etc means and their pros and cons. I really just want good sounding speakers, with some additional bass.

Personally Id get a nice 6.5 Component set for either your door or kick panel, and some decent 6x9s for the rear. The front stage (front speakers) is what is most important. 4x6s aren't really going to do you any good unless you find a plate set (3.5" mid and a tweeter on a 4x6 plate.) Get a decent 150-300 watt amp to power the component set and you'll be very happy. Phoenix Gold makes a excellent budget line component set. You can pick them up on ebay for about $70. (phoenix gold RSD) comes with 2 6.5" mids, 2 1" dome tweeters, and 2 crossovers. Great midbass and decent highs. Not a bad deal for $70. Some people will say Phoenix gold is crap, and I agree but this line of speakers is actually a great value for the money and solidly built.
PG Component set + decent 6x9s + amp to power components = $200-$300 (including wiring)

Stick to NAME brand speakers! You usually can get some good prices online sites like, www.sonicelectronix.com or www.crutchfield.com you have 6x9 in your sails behind the seats and 4x6 up in the dash. Start there buy something nice with a lot of range. I personally love Kenwood, Apline, Polk speakers. I would also do a search on here and look for modified kick panels. Some members on here did some nice work and made anything from a 5 1/4 all the way up to a 6 1/2 speaker fit in there. Those would enhance your sound to a whole new level.

87 White GTA, listed off a very good list of brands. But I have to disagree with Darren, don't necessarily stick to name brands. I compete in car audio contests, various styles SQ(which is pretty gay anymore because the judges are dicks) sql (sound quality and loudness) and spl (pure loudness), and my father used to compete strictly SQ back in the day. And a lot of time the brands that aren't mainstream destroy 90% of mainstream brands.
Basically just don't go out and buy walmart speakers if you get what im saying. Do you're research and look at reviews. If you find something, feel free to ask us about them.

The dash speaker location will fit a 6 1/2" just make sure the speaker is 2" deep or less. Here is a recent thread of a member who put 6.5" speakers in the dash and how he did it. Check out post #5

Also...what is your budget and do you have some places you can listen to different speakers. Bottom line is everyone will recommend different speakers based on their listening preference.
10" sub in sail panel....
