Constant 12V Power

I have a 92 RS which my orange constant wire is not giving off any power. When I take the ignition wire and hook it up with the yellow wire from the radio which also has the Orange wire hooked up (constant) the head unit works. When I turn the car off the presets get lost because there is no power coming from the constant wire. I checked the radio fuse on the drivers side and it's fine. Is there another fuse that could be blown? The radio is brand new and works fine. It's a kenwood brand new head unit. Is there another fuse box under the hood?

Any response will help. Thanks..

Re: Constant 12V Power

Orange wire should go to the ACC fuse. Same fuse as the dome light, cigarette lighter, hatch release, door locks, power mirrors, horn relay, among others. If that fuse is out, check the cigarette lighter socket as it's the most prone to short out and blow that fuse.

Re: Constant 12V Power

I tested the cigarette lighter before I put in the stereo. And the dome light works. But I will check the ACC fuse as well. What are my other options? Could the wire be bad?

Re: Constant 12V Power

From the fuse block, that orange wire goes to a factory splice and branches about 9 different places to power all of the accessories. The splice should be behind the right side of the instrument cluster. Should be a lot of tape wrapping a crimp connection.

Re: Constant 12V Power

Thanks for you time guys. I fixed the problem today. It was the 20A ARC fuse under the steering wheel. I replaced it and it works. (Thank god for the haynes manual)
