Amp has power but no sound coming from subwoofers?
Hi guys!, Last night I worked long into the night installing my subwoofers in my 91 Trans am, I have the power cable connected to the battery and its hooked up to the amp and the amplifier has power but when I hook the amplifier up to the subwoofers, they dont make any sound, I have an aftermarket Kenwood cd deck to which I connected the rca wires properly, but I am unsure of the remote wire...I crimped it with the red wire on the back of my stereo, The amp turns on and off with the car, would this be my problem because Ive been reading that the remote wire needs to be connected to the blue and white wire?
Thanks guys!!

Thanks guys!!

Remote wire should go to blue and white wire on a kenwood, so the amp turns on and off with the stereo. Shouldn't make it not work the way you have it wired though. Go into the radio settings and make sure you have the subwoofer output turned on. If thats not it might need to double check your wiring. Good luck

that might not be good normally amp turn on wires are blue or blue and white and a high gauge that wire only sends out .5 volts of power just enough to tell the amp to turn on if you push too high of voltage through it can do damage also make sure the sub is wired correct and like he said above the headunit has sub output on

the remote turn on is not low voltage, it's 12volts low amp, the red wire works just the same except that it's controlled by the ignition and it might pop when you turn it on if the amp turns on it should put out sound unless it's disabled in the radio or the amp settings

I vote to check your radio's setting first. My old pioneer headunit had seperate sub-pre amp outputs that had to be manually tuned on.

Check the simple things, that usually never fails.
If you are 100% sure that the amp is getting power pass the following up.
If you are not 100% sure that the amp is getting power...
1. Check the fuse by the battery, cable to battery, and ground connection.
2.Make sure the REM is sending power to the amp.
(Wire that fits between positive and negative post on the amp)
3. Check the fuses on the side of the amp itself.
If you are sure the amp is getting power...(In this order)
1. Check the wire connection that sends power to the speaker.
(I have had one of these come loose before)
2. Check the signal cable on the amp, make sure they are plugged in properly.
3. Make sure that the speaker wire is plugged in properly to the box connection.
4. Check the source of the signal wire. If you have a speaker inputs check it all the way to where it ties into the speaker.
(back of stereo or speaker level input.)
5. Check the wiring inside the box and make sure they are connected.
