1st system please help

ok my 1st system and it was in the car when i got it so i didnt hook it up...the SUB was going off over rough roads and comin back on for a while then i found that a wire was loose on the capacitor. I unhooked all the wires to the CAP and rehooked them and it didnt work neither did my rearview camara...i traced everything and found the loose aire wasnt to the sub at all so that wasnt my prob but t was to my RV camaera and the fuse was blown... i go to replace the fuse and it sparks and blows that fuse...unhook it put fuse in tried hookin up wires and wires spark, so i cannot hook it up without sparks..WTF is going on? everything worked and hit hard b4 i disconnected it and its all hooked up the same as it was!

Re: 1st system please help

Not sure we can help you, as none of that is factory stuff.

But, sounds like your connecting a hot wire to ground (or visa versa) - thus the sparks and fuse blowing. Capacitors are trouble from what I read, and 99% of folks that rig their own stereos do it very poorly - if it were me I'd yank that junk out completely, and at the least rewire it all over again doing it correctly. Search the net for instructions for the specific brand equipment you have.

I say this because, I myself have bought 3 parts cars in the last 6 years - they were parts only shells because some idiot wired in subs/capacitors wrong and ended up with an exploding battery and consequential fire.

yeah do this disconnect the positive side of the battery hook everything up and replace the blown fuse with a higher amperage one (so if it was 15amp's stick a 20 amp in there) see how that work's

Sounds like you have some wire crossed or it's grounding out somewhere. Time to start going back and tracing your wiring.

Unhook your cap and any other wiring you removed and reconnected during your maintenance.

Put a new fuse in and verify the mirror or whatever the fuse goes to works correctly without blowing the fuse.

Turn off the car or w/e so there is no power in the line and add another thing onto the line.

Retest it again.

If you get to a point where it blows the fuse you either have the wires crossed or are putting to much amperage pull on the fuse.

Also good to point out anytime you wire caps make sure you don't cross the terminals on the top. They will spark hard enough to fire the wrench right out of your hand and pop it accross the garage leaving a scorch mark on it. I've only made that mistake once.
