Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
I'm about to tackle my speaker upgrade but I have a few questions:
I have the factory rear speaker boxes that housed the 4x6 and 5 1/4 sub. I want to replace the speakers but I need some advice on the "sub".
Front: Infinity 4x6 with in-line bass blocker
Rear: Infinity 4x6 or replace with a single infinity 4" (opinions?)
"Sub": JL Audio makes a 5.25 sub, but at $150 a piece it's just too expensive. I'm not looking for thumping bass, but a nice quality sound much like my 02 Camaro had. It used a 6.5 woofer that received bass signal; the sound wasn't earth shattering but had a good bass feel to it.
With that said, can I use a 5.25 woofer/speaker (or midrange if anybody knows of one)? I assume I would have to use a high pass filter, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Amp: Like I said, I just want a nice sounding system. Alpine makes a 5 channel amp, Alpine MRX-V60, that is relatively small and I feel would work for my situation. I would have to split the sub signal (which would probably be better for a speaker/woofer anyways).
Just to note, I am going to keep the speakers in the stock locations and will not be adding subs to the back. Please let your ideas fly!

Re: Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
No luck so far with Kee Audio. I've been able to find 5.25 midrange from CDT but I doubt their ability to handle any decent amount of power.
Does anyone have any experience with 5.25 midrange?

Re: Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
these don't look half bad, probably couldn't go wrong for the price
Peerless India
These are a little cheaper than the jl's not sure if you are looking for even cheaper than these, though definitly a better choice for bass than the above
Aurum Cantus
Ugh just realized they were 8ohm, sorry

Re: Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
If you end up getting any of those, please post back with the results. I have an empty set of these boxes that will one day make it into my car and would like to hear your results.

Re: Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
The Aurum Cantus would be perfect, if they aren't 8 ohm, but I could wire them to 4 ohms. All the others are too cheap in my opinion, so o doubt their durability OR the can't handle the power a 5 channel would be sending to them. But again, im not that knowledgeable about car audio.
But thanks for looking onto it. Apparently i need to search that website a bit more

Re: Factory 6 UQ7 Speakers
Wiring them in for a 4 ohm load wouldn't be that bad, probably your best bet because the jl's look a little deep. Last I looked I didn't think the boxes were that deep
