IS there gonna be an issue??
Alright guys.....1990 formula.....i bought 2 4-way 550 watt pioneer speakers and soon to replace the front speakers. i also bought a orginal looking cd/mp3/usb/am/fm radio that does 4x40 watts power.
??? is my originial factory wiring going to affect peformance in any of this, or will they blow fuses or catch wires on fire or anything???
PS: im not a punk teen with subs in a 4cly rice burner, i know nothing about tech...dont insult

The factory wiring is the thinnest gauge stuff I have ever seen. I'm not sure that there will be a safety hazard, but the sound quality would be much better with a thicker gauge wire. Furthermore, I'm not sure that 40 watts (peak or RMS) will really be enough to push 4 way speakers. I'd expect distortion with that set up that will quickly blow your new speakers unless you invest in a suitable amp. Just my 2 cents anyway.

Re: IS there gonna be an issue??
if youre replacing speakers replace the wiring with them. stock is fine for stock power levels, not good for any thing higher powered. since youre not running a sub yet, itll be fine.
but why would you get 550watt speakers and run them with the head unit and not an amp? is a set of new rear speakers and an amp in the equation for the future? if not it should be. and does the head unit have preamp outputs for all 4 speakers?

I honestly dont have a good thought of what the best things are to get for audio

amp = amplifier. you might wanna do some reading and research on audio systems before you just start buying parts.

Re: IS there gonna be an issue??
To the OP - a 4 way speaker is a speaker that has a shell that will fit into the size slot in a vehicle (say 4x6" or 6x9" for example), but combines a woofer, a midrange, and likely 2 tweeter speakers into that "shell". These are basically 4 speakers in 1. As a result it requires more power to push all four as opposed to just a single one-way midrange woofer.
4 way speakers can be a fantastic sound improvement, especially if you do not want to modify the vehicle interior to install seperate tweeters. The issue is that in order to get the sound out of the speakers, you really must have a supporting amplifier. I'd recommend a 4 channel amplifier that meets the RMS wattage range of the 4 way speakers you purchased.
If you've never done any stereo installation work before, I'd suggest reading and finding a friend with some experience to help you. Otherwise just pay to have it done right. Otherwise you'll be frustrated with the results.

You will be just fine on stock wire. I'd suggest an aftermarket HU.
Also the 550 rating is MAX and it is GROSSLY over estimated. These are designed for a stock HU. They are 4 way coaxials not components. HUGE difference in power requirements.
