Just wondering if I would have to make any modifications to make these speakers fit under the dash pad

Yes all you have to is cut to do is cut the factory clip off and wire up the new speaker. No mods needed.

 

IIRC I've always had to space up the drivers side speaker to get it to fit without hitting the gauge cluster, just test fit it up and if it drops in with good clearance put the screws in and call it a day, if you have a skewdriver it will help and make it go super fast, its a right angle screwdriver pretty much you hold the head and when you twist the shaft it rotates the bit in the same direction or you can use a small wrench but its time consuming

 

The set I bought for my TA came with spacer for them and had no problem with clearance.

 

that's a plate not a spacer, the plate just adapts the 4x6 to gm style, the spacing is more of a depth issue I put polls in my dash and needed to bring the speaker up 1/8 of an inch to get it to fit
