I just installed some speakers on my GTA that fit in the stock locations with no modifications. also used connectors from Crutchfield that allowed me to plug them in without splicing any wires!! below are the speakers and they sound GREAT with the stock head unit (no amp either!)

Just wanted to give people the option of updating sound while staying stock looking!

Yeah I am pretty amazed. I used to have a TA back in the day and knew that they were good sounding systems. when I got this GTA I thought man.. whats wrong..
people on here thought you must replace the head unit. I knew that not to be the case. figured the speakers are just old. old foam.
now all good sounds like it should!

 

I have the exact same speakers in my 82. I have an aftermarket head unit driving them though, and a Kicker HS-8 (Micro subwoofer set) in the back.

I agree that they fit the bill perfectly. Easy install, the free connectors from Crutchfield are awesome, and the price was great.
