HUmount in firebird?
HUmount in firebird?
I am starting to build a sound system for my 89 gta and I really want an HUmount. After reading the tech article about sound system installation I am concered because it said that there is alot of work involved in flush mounting a head unit in firebirds. The HUmount looks like its a flush mount. So long story short anyone out there with an HUmount in firebird was there very much work involved with the install of the HUmount?

I don't know about the HUmount, but while there is a bit of work to flush mount a deck it isn't terribly difficult. The hardest part is removing the bracket that the back of the stock deck fits into. Once you remove that, the rest is pretty easy.

Re: HUmount in firebird?
Besides that bracket it seems the biggest problem is that many aftermarket stereos require a little trimming on a duct there. There are several people who have the HUmount in there Camaro or Firebird. There was several pics of it installed in the thread Lets see your head units from a while back.

Some people remove the duct and seal the opening. Other heat up the plastic duct and bend.
I used a dremel to trim and duct tape. Works fine.
