With the separation between the trunk and the passenger area, you're better off designing the system for low, deep bass. You're not really going to "hear" the bass so you'll need to design the system so you'll feel more bass.

An Image Dynamics IDMAX 12 in a larger sealed enclosure with about 600-1000 watts should do it. Jump on it now, too. They're on sale at insanely low prices. One should be sufficient, as I know there isn't a lot of trunk room in a convertible.

I'd shoot for the 1.3 cu/ft if you can. Even if you have to mount the sub with the magnet out, try to get the box as large as you can.

For an amp, you'll want a good brand. JBL, Infinity, Boston Acoustics, etc. No Pyle, Hifonics, Boss, or none of that lower end stuff.

Harman Audio has excellent deals on refurbished amps on their site right now. They still come with a full 1 yr parts/labor warranty, so don't be concerned that they're refurbished.

This one is a hell of a deal for 700 watts of clean, acoustic power.

What type of battery / alternator set up does this require? Can it be run from a standard 105 amp alt and single battery car or are other power components needed?
