Amplifier question
I have a 2 channel Alpine amp with a Alpine stereo. It does'nt get loud like the amp is'nt working. The speakers have 4 ohms, their good,I have the power light on for my amp, so I know it's getting power. But I don't know if my wire going back to the stereo from my amp is good or an inline fuse somewhere has blown. The guy at the stereo shop told me if the wire or fuse going back to the stereo was bad I would'nt get any sound from my back speakers. I have sound, Is this true? I've had the amp for 3 years and it's worked fine till now. On Alpine stereos what color is the wire coming off the stereo going to the amp? Thanks

Re: Amplifier question
wire from stereo to amp is usually blue
only wires from stereo to amp should be that blue one to power it on, and RCA's from you Left and Right Outputs to your amp.
The output of your amp go to Left and Right speakers
Oh, and a separate ground goes to your amp
I would check your gain or filter settings on your amp, somebody probly monkeyed with 'em

Re: Amplifier question
Was the amp professionally installed? If so, take it back!
To me, it sounds like the speakers are out of phase. If that's the case, the sound they produce will cancel out and you'll be left with this muddy mush of sound that doesn't get loud.
If you have verifed that the speakers are wired correctly, try replacing your RCA's with a high quality set.

Try setting the levels. If nothing's changed with your stereo and this just started happening, your amp may be poo-poo'd.

Re: Amplifier question
BTW, the blue wire is just a trigger for the amp, not meant for constant power
You need a beefy gauge wire from ur battery for constant power for you amp.
