Re: shorted out radio

mine has been like this for a while and i haven't been able to fix it. It may just be the radio itself giving out or the wiring. I need to fix mine as well.

Re: shorted out radio

bust out a meter. check for constant power on the yellow wire, acc power on the red (key on) and ground, if you have all 3 the deck is toast

Re: shorted out radio

If it shorted out the fuse should have blown.I know you mentioned that you checked the radio fuse but I would check it again .
Is this a factory radio or aftermarket, some aftermarket radios have in line fuses.

Re: shorted out radio

So you have done a continuity test on the radio fuse and no in line fuse or internal radio fuse then check for power as BluFBdy has mentioned in thread 3.
Let us know whether or not you have power at the radio connector.

Youve checked power from connector to ground which shows no power . Do you have any butt splices from old radio system wiring to new radio.
You mentioned you shorted out radio what were you doing to short it out and how do you know you shorted it out did you see sparks or just the fact the radio wasnt working.

Re: shorted out radio

The lighter and the radio are on the same circuit along with your courtesy lights you need to replace or fix the lighter and it shouldn't blow anymore
