Just bought a 89 Firebird Formula and have been using a Cassette to Auxiliary adapter. When I do so, however, only the driver side speakers are working. Is this common? How would recommend diagnosing the problem and then finally fixing it?
I was going to upgrade anyway to increase my bass and clarity. To that note - are there any speakers coming highly recommended from thirdgen.org fellas (and girls) haha. Reasonably priced is ideal, not looking for a sound studio mobile just some luxury at a fair price. If that exists anymore ha.

 

Does a real cassette work properly? If so make sure you have it plug all the way in. Try wiggling the wire could be a bad wire. If it wont play a real cassette it's your radio.
I use a Phillips adapter I got a Wall-Mart and it works great in my mercury.

 

When you play the radio do all 4 speakers work?? It they do, then it is either your head unit is defective or the cassette adapter is broken? Try a working known good adapter 1st before you assume your head unit is broke..

 

Never had any luck with those adapters. they've got to sit in there just right to hit both sides of the head, road bumps etc. are going to constantly throw it off. Good luck

 

Yea its the adapter not the cassette player. I dont know if I need a new one or if thats just how they work, only playing on one side of the car :/ just gonna get a USB radio

 

I have a USB radio in mine and I love it.
