gave up on factory radios (for now)
I have gone through at least 4 different radios fr my car trying to find one that will work. Every one of them blows out a channel eventually and I have to either decide to junk it, or have a very pricey repair done.
I had a radio that I had converted to a MP3 input, and it worked for about 3 months before it stopped working. I sent it to a guy on this board who said he could fix it, but he stole my money and my radio.
I decided to try a radio out of a late 90's car. I think it looks pretty good, and the sound is great. I got one with a MP3 input from ebay for $60. that's pretty darn good

Re: gave up on factory radios (for now)
The only thing I don't like about the 95+ radios like that is that when the lights burn out on the face, they're soldered in place. So once they're gone, you might as well wait until most of them are burnt out so you can take it apart, change all bulbs at once, and put it back together ONE time. Every so many years that is. Also I hate Theftlock if it's set, and those little fader/balance/bass/treble ***** crack too easy.
The GOOD things I like, so darn easy to add the 3.5mm input on the face, the tape decks are more reliable, the CD decks are more reliable, and you get many more presets than the older 80s style stereos. Easy to find them cheap too and yes, the ones with the MP3 input can be had for $60-$80 or so.

OK, it took forever, but Matt made good on what he said he would do. He fixed my radio, sent it back to me, and even refunded my money. I am pleased to have my factory radio back in the car as of today, and the the gen radio I'll keep as a backup
