iPad in camaro
I was really sold on getting a double din. But I got an iPad 3 for my birthday before it was discontinued.
but I take it everywhere so I figured I would install in my camaro.
I have plans to install it like this so I can take it out easily but have it still look nice

Any other suggestions. I haven't seen it before
The iPad is the same size as the head unit and heat controls, it will hide everything behind it

unless you have some BEAST fabing skills i would recommend just sticking with a double din that is already made to fit inside of a car.

Re: iPad in camaro
Yes the ipad is not actually in the car yet but he was able to make it fit into the radio trim plate...
looks like all he needs to do now is put the center console back into the car and it will be done...

Re: iPad in camaro
I put up the wrong link. I will be just using velcro to firmly hold the iPad in front of the heat and a/c controls and current deck which plays my music threw an aux cord.

any ol' MP3 player can get the job done for you..... just sayin
But if thats what you wish to do dont let me stop you

Re: iPad in camaro
iPad mini would be easier. The iPad 3 is too wide, you're taking glassing up a custom center console here. It can be done but its a lot of work

This thread gave me the idea
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143769
so I'm just going to stick with it. Easily removable, but still will do the job

Re: iPad in camaro
If you're looking for a mount that you can clip your iPad into while driving, then remove it to take with you (original post sounds like you do), Pro Clips makes several device and vehicle specific mounts, unfortunately 3rd Gens aren't one of the vehicles. But they do have universal options that can look nice in any vehicle, I'm considering one for my Nokia Windows phone. You might spend a bit on your combination, but it should look pretty good.

Soundmancaraudio.com has iPad install parts (fiberglass pans). Run the aux out to an istreamer and off to the amps

No biggie, I have those moments too. First boat was Casimir Pulaski, then Alabama and I retired from Ohio and a total of 11 patrols.

Re: iPad in camaro
With the Ohio long enough for her SSGN conversion? I went to sea with the Alabama in 2000 on her 50th deterrent patrol (Blue crew I believe), since my boat (Alaska) had just gone into Bremerton drydock for the C4-D5 conversion...and what a BLAST that fiasco was!

Re: iPad in camaro
it means DO NOT WANT
i will applaud your effort, but i cant say i like it, you had us under the impression you were going to fabricate and install a mount that would hold the ipad in the dash, not just velcro and superglue it to the dash, it looks out of place,
you say you only spent a few dollars on supplies, but going to walmart can net you a fiberglass kit for $10 and you could have custom built a housing for the ipad and made it look clean
or buy one of the mounts posted above, but this......this just isn't something many people would want to do to their f-bodies
im not saying any of this to make you mad, we are all here to learn and take criticism to better our skills and our car, this is the challenge that if you want to mount an ipad(which is extremely large) in a car, try to make it look somewhat like it belongs in the car. take some time and play with fiberglass, its actually interesting stuff to work with, and you can mold just about anything you want from it
