Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
Just buy some rubber grommets to suit the thickness of your wires and then drilll a hole.
Make sure the hole is well clear of the pedals.

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
There may or may not be a hole down where the engine wiring harness runs through the bulkhead. Both my 87 and 88 have this hole, however. Not sure if it's used for a speedo cable or not, though, since my 87 didn't have one and the 88 never got its cable reinstalled. The hole is about 3/4" in diameter.

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
I ran my 12 gauge wire through a hole right behind the driver side inner fender through the firewall. It was big enough for the wire no problems and from there I ran the wire down the plastic piece of the door jam all the way through the side of the car and it comes out where my box is.
All the other wires from the deck run inside my center console out the back of it under the seat and then runs the same route from the back seats to the sub as the 12 gauge wire
But I do have a GTA dont know if that changes anything with the firewalls?
Hope this helps...

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
You should be running the RCAs down the passenger's side under the sill plate (with the rest of the rear speaker wiring)... That amp power wire and fuel pump wiring could cause interference in the RCA line.

So heres the pics.
Its the same hole that the hood release goes through. Big enough for the 12 gauge wire and my harness coming from the horn of my viper alarm system and the hood release. Oh and I know no grommets were used a bad no no lol

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
I've been installing Car audio for about 2 decades (professionally and as a hobby), and noise only seemed to be a problem for about the first 10 years of installing, after that, noise rejection of the components, cables and improved signal strength have made unwanted noise almost a thing of the past. I've even gone so far as to run RCAs beside the power wires without any extra induced noise, not that I would recommend doing that, but I have experimented with cable routing.
I find that most noise problems come from the power supply itself, being a noisy alternator, and/or poor grounds.
As far as getting through the firewall, you will need to drill a hole, if one hasn't already been drilled. IIRC, I would drill a hole near the brake or clutch pedal, and as high as possible. Just check on both sides before drilling to make sure you won't be drilling into anything important.

There is also a hole on the passenger side body behind the fender where the antenna wire runs through, thats what I used. Its right above where the motor harness runs in

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
Same here as when I did the LS swap I had a huge hole so I cut a plate for there and ran my stereo wire thru it.
Calgutie Do you have cruise control in your car as you can use that area as well and its really close to the frame rail so the wires with sit nice when you run them

Re: Passing wires through firewall...?
Guess it depends on which side your battery is on lol mine was on the driver side so I found a hole over there but apparently rheres holes on both sides. So no matter what you should be able to run it cleanly either way. Lets us no how you ran it when you clean it up lol
